The field experience (student teaching) portions of the Bachelor of Education program are the most exciting parts of the program. Repeatedly, students tell us that student teaching is the highlight of their teacher education.

It is through their field experience in schools that students see the merging of theory and practice. Each student must complete at least 14 weeks (70 days) of supervised student teaching in order to meet degree requirements.

Introductory Field Experience

The Introductory Field Experience (IFX) consists of an eight week on-campus seminar, three in-school observation days, and a five week (25-days) field experience.  Please note, start and end dates may vary according to school district and/or school alternative calendars.

The field experience is designed to give student teachers their first opportunity to merge theory with practice in a school setting.

Advanced Field Experience

The Advanced Field Experience (AFX) consists of a nine week (45-day) field experience.  Please note, start and end dates may vary according to school district and/or school alternative calendars.

The AFX placement allows student teachers to build upon the teaching skills, knowledge and attributes demonstrated in their IFX experience.
